About Us

At his farm in Al Shahaniya, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani has built his own private museum of more than 15,000 artefacts, collected from his travels around the world. Everything from rare exquisite rugs to old American cars, ornate Arab style furniture, Islamic art, coins and currency and all things Qatari. The museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting Islamic heritage for the people of Qatar and for international visitors. The museum has expanded since its opening, with new facilities for research and education purposes as well as state-of-the-art facilities for entertainment in the typical Gulf style. The Museum also has a farm, which is home to a herd of more than 1,000 Arabian oryx, gazelles and several peacocks wandering around the wooded areas. Although it can be difficult to find and it is quite a long way out of Doha, with on online map service and some patience you will be happy that you persevered. Make sure to budget a day to get there and back, also be sure to allow for traffic. A visit to the camel race track on the way might not be a bad idea either, as the two sites are near. Be sure to inform the size of your group to the museum so they can allocate the right number of guides. Visit the website for more information, email or call 4486 1444.
